William Daniel Faulk (aged 82) beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, walked with his Savior into eternity on July 21st, 2022, after a brief hospital stay.
Born on May 19th, 1940, in Topeka, Kansas to Charley Allen and Alpha Irene (Hestand) Faulk, William was so small and blue that he was bundled in a boot box and placed onto the oven door as a makeshift incubator to ensure his survival. The youngest of seven children, he spent his childhood working hard alongside his parents and siblings on their dairy farm, during which time he developed an unwavering commitment to family that remained throughout his entire life. In school he enjoyed singing in glee club and operetta, membership in FFA, and participation in many sports, especially running track and cross country. William graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1958 and then married the love of his life, Phyllis, in 1960. Together they lovingly raised two daughters, Christine, and Michelle, and enjoyed 60 years of marriage.
William studied for two years at Washburn University with hopes of a career in Agricultural Journalism before setting that aside to provide for his young family. He began his adult working life as a produce man at Falley’s Market, served in the National Guard, and eventually worked as a District Manager for Mass Merchandiser’s/McKesson, Inc from which he retired in 1995.
A quiet man filled with wit and wisdom, William was an avid student of history (especially of the Civil War), politics, and current events, who also appreciated traveling, supporting K-State athletics and Chiefs football, eating ice cream, and simply being with those he loved. Above all these things, however, William most delighted in knowing he had been saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Made a new creation in 1983, he spent his life lavishing love on his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and extended family. He already is, and will continue to be, deeply missed.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Kaye Faulk; parents, Charley, and Irene Faulk; his siblings, Ella Marie Hendrix, Charley Jr. (Bud) Faulk, Ruth Ann Zimmerman, Naomi Lee (Toni) Adams, and Carl Kenneth Faulk and his sister-in-law, Jill Mathy. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Dr. Christine Faulk, and Michelle Costello; his sister Norma Lou Henderson; his brother-in-law Brett Mathy and sister-in-law Ruth Faulk; his grandchildren, Joshua Daniel, Nissi Joy, Sophia Irenae, Noah Josiah, Christina Kaye and husband, Levi Weber, and Elijah John-Andrew; his great-granddaughter Lila Kaye Weber; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
