Mac passed away peacefully on Friday February 7th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 6th 1946, Mac was a dedicated and beloved man whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone he met.
Mac proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he retired after a distinguished career, serving his country with honor and dedication. His love for his country was only matched by his love for his family, who were the center of his life.
Known for his sweet tooth, Mac could always be found with a piece of candy in hand, bringing joy to all around him. He ran a daycare for many years, nurturing and guiding countless children with the same love and care he showed his own family. An avid fisherman, Mac enjoyed spending time outdoors, but it was his kindness, dependability, and the wisdom he offered as a trusted advisor that made him truly unforgettable.
Mac's deep affection for animals, especially dogs, was well known, and his gentle heart made him a friend to all creatures great and small. His spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kay; sons, Edward (Jill) McGuire and Daniel (Heather) McGuire; daughter, Donna (Arthur) Fontenette; stepsons, Michael (Bobbie) Sutherland, Douglas (Chrystal) Sutherland, Bradley (Chrissy) Williams and stepdaughter, Christina Campbell; sister, Linda Janey; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mac was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Lima (Odom) McGuire and his brother, Michael McGuire.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 10:30am Monday, February 17th, at Broadway Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Wounded Warriors.
Rest in peace, Mac. You will forever be loved and remembered.
