Virginia (Ginger) Farley French, born November 12, 1952, passed away peacefully at home May 23, 2019. She bravely battled numerous health issues for many years. Ginger lived a life of faith and is now wrapped in the arms of Jesus and her loving family who predeceased her. Born in New Jersey, she grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, eventually settling in Wichita, Kansas with her husband, James E. (Jim) French. Ginger graduated from Omaha’s Westside High School in 1971. She attended University of Nebraska’s College of Pharmacy on a full scholarship and was a devoted member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She was a member of Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society, attaining her Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) in 1978. Ginger and Jim married in 1976 and moved to Wichita in 1978. Ginger worked with Wesley Medical Center for over 30 years as a clinical pharmacist in various capacities. When health challenges necessitated a reduced workload, Ginger became a Certified Institutional Review Board Manager, working with Wichita Medical Research and Education Foundation as IRB Director for over a decade. Her knowledge, training, and communication skills helped improve hospital pharmacy care and medical research throughout the community. New health challenges led to her retirement in late 2010. In spite of health issues, Ginger always offered generous support to extended family and friends and had an avid interest in local, national, and world affairs. Ginger was dearly loved by family and friends and made a lasting impression with most who met her. She lived the faith she loved with joy, laughter, devotion, and unforgettable hugs. She is preceded in death by her father William H. Farley II, her mother, Elizabeth H. (Buttons) Farley, and sister Susan E. Farley. She is survived by her husband, James; beloved children Elizabeth (Jeremiah) Miller and Steven F. French; grandchildren Autumn, Blayne and Sage Miller; and many nieces and nephews, as well as her sisters Patty (Cliff) Karthauser of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Beth (Jim) Warne of Phoenix, Arizona, and Lynne (Robert) Bandak of La Palma, California. A memorial service is planned for July 20, 2019. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, American Heart Association, or The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
