Tom Cole was blessed with many talents. Tom graduated from Wichita State University with a BA in Entrepreneurship, worked in advertising, was an actor’s agent in Los Angeles, and recorded several albums of music before finding his calling in the fitness industry, where he worked as a master personal trainer at gyms in Wichita, L.A. and Kansas City. In 2019 he combined his degree with his passion and opened a successful fitness center franchise in Kansas City, which remained profitable throughout the Covid19 pandemic restrictions. He sold the business in 2021 and returned to Wichita.
Tom will be remembered by those who knew him well for his devotion to his friends, quick wit, kind heart and thoughtfulness toward others. He was unfailingly generous and courageous. Tom was someone who could be counted on in a difficult situation. He had a heart to help those less fortunate than himself. He and Chief, his gentle rescue pit bull, shared many adventures across the country. We will miss his easy smile, tender heart, booming laugh, graceful ways and flair for the unexpected.
Tom often spoke of the importance of making every day count. “Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.’” James 4:14-15.
