Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 am, Friday, May 5, at First Evangelical Free Church. Susan Ann Florence was born in Wichita, KS on May 23, 1946. She was raised in a Christian home and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior as a young girl. She grew up in a loving family and had fond affections for her family throughout her life. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1964. After attending Kansas State University, she graduated from Friends University in 1969, with a teaching degree. She was a home economics teacher in USD 259 for 16 years, serving at Heights, Southeast, and North High Schools. She originally met Steve Nave in high school; they were married on May 29, 1971. She loved to cook and sew, had fond affections for all of her family, and loved to spend time with her kids and grandkids. She especially loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is remembered for having a fun-loving spirit, a heart for the least of these. All of these values and many more were instilled in her three children and many grandchildren. After retiring she enjoyed substitute teaching and working in various retail shops in Wichita. She was active in various roles at First Free for over 33 years, especially as an AWANA leader at First Free for 20 years. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Richard D. and N. Evalyn Florence, and her brother, James R. Florence. She is survived by her husband, Steven N. Nave, her children Tony (and Natashia) Nave, Nick (and Julie) Nave, and Maggie (and Josh) Black, and 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
