Shirley Ann Penner, 92 of Wichita, KS went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 14, 2020.
She was born to Herbert and Ella Schuessler in a farmhouse, Sedgwick County KS on February 2, 1928 as the third of five daughters. She graduated from Sedgwick High School in 1946 and married Wesley Penner in 1948 and moved to Wichita where she lived the rest of her life.
Shirley loved her Lord Jesus Christ, her family and friends. She was active in church throughout her life and her first date with Wesley was at a church youth meeting. She was not only a Christian in name but modeled her faith every day. She saw the good in everyone and always had a positive attitude and smile. She faithfully prayed for, served and encouraged others. Shirley will be greatly missed but her legacy remains as an example and inspiration to all her knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Penner and her son-in-law, Cliff Peachey. She is survived by her children: Wes Penner, Jr. (Linda) of Wichita, Janet Penner-Williams (Jeff) of Fayetteville, AR, Carol Peachey of Rogers, AR; grandchildren: Luke Penner (October), Brooke Andrus (Andy), Blake Penner (Casey), Anna Von Fange (Michael), Chad Peachey, Courtney Trevillion (Karson); great grandchildren: Jackson and Lincoln Penner; Sarah, Eldon and Roth Andrus; Evelyn and Alice Penner; Corbett and Ella Von Fange, Kade Frieden and Ford Trevillion She is also survived by sisters Wanda Poppe (Lavern); Nancy Ketterman (Charlie), many nieces/nephews and her special friend Bill Thomas.
Visitation 4:00-6:00PM Thursday, December 17th at First Mennonite Brethren Church, 8000 W. 21st St, Wichita, KS 67205. Burial 9:00AM at Green Valley Cemetery near Furley, KS and memorial service 10:30AM at First Mennonite Brethren Church both Friday, December 18th.
