Sherry Nighswonger

Nighswonger, Sharon "Nanny" (Guthridge), 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home, on December 6, 2018. Sherry was born on April 27, 1939 in Wichita, KS to Clifford and Joyce Guthridge. She graduated from Wichita High School East in 1957. She married the love of her life, Larry Nighswonger, on June 13, 1959. She was a homemaker, who enjoyed raising her children and socializing with her friends. "Nanny" adored her grandchildren more than anything. Some of Sherry's favorite pastimes were spending time with her family at their lake house and vacationing to South Padre Island with Larry each year. She was an accomplished painter and enjoyed doing ceramics with her friends on a weekly basis. Sherry is survived by her husband and beloved dog, Larry and Precious; daughter, Lori (Kent) Hamilton of Silver Lake, KS; son, Rich (Susie) Nighswonger of Wichita; grandchildren, Ashley (Darrin), Courtney, and Michael of Silver Lake, and Rich (Hannah) and Shannon (Doug) of Wichita; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gary Guthridge of Arizona and Dick (Rita) Guthridge of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents. Family Visitation, 2-4 pm, Sunday, Dec. 9, and Funeral Service, 1:30 pm, Monday, Dec. 10, both at Broadway Mortuary, 1147 S. Broadway.
