Ruth Schmidt

Ruth Ann Morgan-Schmidt, age 74, of Wichita, Kan., died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Sandpiper Bay Care Center in Wichita. She was born the daughter of Phil and Ruth Morgan in Albia on May 7, 1940. She graduated from Albia Community Schools in Albia. She went on to further her education by attending Grinnell College and graduating from Drake University with a degree in education. She spent most of her life in Upland, Calif., where she enjoyed gardening, family and teaching. In the later years in California she became a social worker. She had a very caring heart and wanted to help children lead better lives. She ended up retiring in Wichita, Kan., to be closer to her daughter, Heidi Bannon and her grandchildren. Ruth Ann had a contagious laugh that will always be in our hearts forever. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Phil; and her son, Curtis Schmidt. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Heidi Schmidt-Bannon of Wichita, Kan.; grandchildren, Rielly J. Bannon and Klye P. Bannon of Wichita, Kan.; niece, Denise Morgan-Miller and her husband, Shane Miller of Shawnee, Kan.; and great-niece Logan Miller of Shawnee, KS.
