Roger Timm

Roger Wayne Timm went home to the Lord on Monday, June 10,2024 after his courageous battle against cancer. He was born in Herington, Kansas on February 8th, 1947 to Ralph and Ruth (Bovey) Timm, the youngest of seven children. He grew up in Woodbine, Kansas where he found his love for fishing, hunting, and love for all animals. Roger’s early schooling was in Woodbine until the school was closed his freshman year, then attended and graduated from Chapman High School in 1965.

After graduation, Roger joined the United States Army where he proudly serviced his county in Vietnam. After Roger’s military service, he attended Wichita State University graduating with a degree in Liberal Arts. Roger and Ruthanne Henard were married in 1971 and later divorced to remain lifelong friends. A quality carpenter of many different structure types, Roger could frame, roof, do beautiful finish work or most anything that needed built. For many years, he enjoyed a bachelor life living on the river outside of Belle Plaine, Kansas. He always welcomed many, family and friends alike to fish, camp, fish fries, and bond fires. Roger met Nancy Bass, the love of his life. The two were inseparable and they were united in marriage in 2008. Both of Nancy’s daughters felt it was a lifetime match for them. Both Roger and Nancy lived happily, enjoying the joys of grandparenting together until Nancy’s passing in April 2014. Roger continued to love his six grandchildren.

The VFW in Haysville was a second family to him. His many friends, supportive veterans, auxiliary team added so much love and joy to his life. He enjoyed helping others. One would describe him as kind, patient, and having a heart of gold. For those of us who were blessed to have him in our lives, to love, to cherish, we hold memories that will carry us to the next lifetime.

Preceded in death include parents; Ralph and Ruth Timm; wife, Nancy Timm; brothers, Robert(Bob) and Richard(Dick) Timm; nephews Gary Hettenbach and Richard(Rick) Timm.
