In Loving Memory of Richard Everett Martin
July 3, 1924 – April 3, 2025
Richard Everett Martin, 100, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on April 3, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he lived a life of faith, love, and service.
Born July 3, 1924, in Wichita, KS, to the late Harold and Jesse Martin, Richard grew up during the Great Depression and later served his country with honor in World War II as a bombardier in the Army Air Corps. He then had a long and successful career as an accountant at J.I Case.
He shared 67 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, June, and together they built a beautiful family. His faith in Jesus Christ was unshakable, and he led his family with wisdom, kindness, and an unwavering trust in God.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, June Martin; son, Steven Martin; brother, Bobby Martin; sisters, Mildred Woodworth and Valerie Harris; and grandson, Tyler Houseman.
He is survived by his son, Greg (Toby) Martin; daughter, Heidi (C. Jay) Houseman; daughter-in-law, Nancy Martin; grandchildren, Andrea Britton, Jeff (Ginny) Martin, Kelsey (Eric) Andreae, Teague (Robert) Meyer, Clay (Sabrina) Houseman, Sarah Martin, and Alison (Jason) Centanni; as well as 12 great-grandchildren.
Richard will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him, but his legacy of love, integrity, and faith in Almighty God will endure for generations.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, April 8th, at Northside Church of Christ in Wichita Kansas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the mission work of his granddaughter, Teague Meyer, and her husband Robert.
Though we mourn, we rejoice in the promise that he is now home, hearing the words:
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
