Richard (Dick) Borchard was born to Arthur and Martha (Bierman) Borchard in Northville, South Dakota on April 1, 1937 and went home to be with Jesus on January 16, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Betty, his brother Daryl (Yvonne) Borchard, daughter, Pamela (Steve) Nye, son, Michael (Christina) Borchard, of Wichita, KS, daughter, Marcie Borchard, of Palm Desert, CA, and son, Jon (Kimberly) Borchard, of Minneola, KS, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Dick grew up in Northville and was one of 5 students who graduated from Northville High School in 1955. He then attended college and graduated from South Dakota State University in 1959 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and 2 weeks later was married to Betty (Bieger) Borchard on June 21, 1959. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Wichita, KS where he took a job with Boeing. He worked at Boeing for 36 years as a test engineer working on many projects for the military and civilian side of the company. He spent one year as a Loaned Executive to the United Way of Wichita and then retired in 1995. For the last 50 years of his life, he dedicated his time to serving others, being actively involved in his Church and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and traveling with his wife Betty. They were inseparable and together, they shared their greatest passion, which was getting to know people, and helping them to get to know Jesus or helping them to get to know Him better. It was his objective to know Christ in his own life in ever increasing depth and to make him known in every place he went. He had a constant smile on his face and always had a trick up his sleeve. He also enjoyed playing trumpet with the German Band and enjoyed sharing prayer requests through the “Prayer Letter” at Church. He was a catcher of fish and a fisher of men.
