Polly Beckman Downing

Polly J. Beckman Downing, age 64, passed away with her Husband and Son by her side on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital in Wichita. A loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother and friend. She was born August 26, 1960, in Omaha, NE and soon adopted to a loving home by her parents, Harold "Beck" and Avis Beckman of Stromsburg, NE. She graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and went on to receive her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Nebraska in 1986. Polly spent her career as a Clinical/Hospital Pharmacist at Hospitals in the Newton and Wichita, KS area. She loved her work and always believed she made a difference in patient care. Polly married Charles Downing on April 22, 1992. At the time of her passing they had been married nearly 33 wonderful years. Together with their son Ryan, they enjoyed family time and travel and have many cherished memories. Polly enjoyed time with family and friends but perhaps more than anything, loved watching her beloved Cornhuskers. Saturday afternoons in the fall were spent cheering them on; her support never wavered. She always looked forward to attending games in Lincoln when able. She now has the best seat in the house. Polly also enjoyed playing in the handbell choir at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Wichita. She was a member of P.E.O. since 1979, most recently serving as Treasurer for Chapter IM in Wichita. Polly is survived by her husband, Charles (Chuck), their son Ryan, brother Timothy Beckman of Stromsburg, NE and many cousins, nieces, and nephews and extended family. Polly is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Avis. Friends and family whose lives Polly touched are invited to celebrate her life on Thursday March 27, 2025 at 10:30am at Cozine Life Events Center.
