Pat Williams, born on October 10, 1948, entered into eternal rest on March 23, 2025. She is survived by her loving husband, Daryl Williams; daughter, Amy Williams; son, Andrew Williams; daughter-in-law, Amy Ferrell Williams; mother, Edie Wedel; brother, Chuck H. Squires Jr.; sister-in-law, Theresa Squires; brother, Tom Squires; sister-in-law, Linda; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Pat's life was marked by a passion for music, a commitment to her family, and a vibrant personality that brought joy to those around her. After graduating from West High School in 1966, she received a scholarship to Wichita State University to study music education, but life took her on a different path as she married and relocated to Houston, where she spent 15 years working in banking and loans. Her journey included becoming proficient in Spanish and maintaining her love for music by performing with a community orchestra.
In 1998, Pat returned to the workforce as a music secretary at Messiah Baptist/NewSpring Church, a role she cherished until 2014. During her tenure, Pat edited weekly radio broadcasts, managed copyrights and licenses for music, supported worship leaders, composed and arranged music, and played her viola for special events until health issues prevented her from continuing. She also briefly served as a sign language interpreter for the Nickerson school district.
Pat's family cherished numerous memories of outdoor adventures, often reminiscing about camping trips filled with laughter, card games, and the warmth of shared experiences. A self-proclaimed lover of frugality, she found joy in canning vegetables and jams, showcasing her dedication to providing for her family. Her competitive spirit shone through her love for playing cards, much to the delight of family members who joined her in enjoyable games.
Her vibrant personality was that of a bubbly, outgoing individual who found great pleasure in making those around her happy. Known for her quick wit and love for puns, she was often the source of laughter among friends and family. Even as her health declined, Pat continued to uplift others, sending cheerful messages and jokes over social media, always signing her communications with "LovePat."
Pat's spiritual journey began in a convenience store, where an encounter over beer, a cigarette, and John MacArthur sparked her journey to faith. In 1980, a coworker invited her to church, which forever altered the course of her family's life. Her faith deeply influenced her dedication to her children, as she worked relentlessly to ensure they knew Jesus, thrived outside the home, and achieved their educational goals. Her legacy is one of love, teaching moments, and a commitment to nurturing her family's faith.
Pat was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ray Wedel; father, Charles H. Squires Sr.; stepmother, Bernice Squires; and her aunts and uncles, Ernest "Bud" and Ruth Cox, Ralph and Virginia Squires, Nathan and Rose Squires, and Mary Conquest.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 1, 2025, in the north auditorium at NewSpring Church in Wichita, Kansas, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by additional services at Cozine Life Events Center from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Her life, rich in love and joy, will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
