Patricia (Pat) L. Northrop , 85, passed away peacefully at home on October 4, 2020. Pat was born to Fred and Lucille Kemnitz in Perry, Oklahoma on July 30, 1935. She met her loving husband of 61 years (Daniel) while working at the Air Force base in Ardmore, Oklahoma – it was love at first sight. They lived and worked in California, then Oklahoma City, where they started their family. Eventually, Daniel’s work in avionics would bring them to Wichita, Kansas where they completed their family and made their forever home. Daniel preceded Pat in death on February 25, 2020 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Pat worked as an executive secretary for Sheplers in Wichita, Kansas for 26 years and cherished that experience and the people she worked with. She had a passion for reading – especially Norman Vincent Peal, Max Lucado and others as well as the Bible. Her love for Christ set a great example for our family and for those in her path. Pat loved her family and spending time with them, but also enjoyed playing the piano, traveling, family card games, photography, dancing, sewing, crafts and watching animals of all kinds. She was an avid baton twirler in her high school days! Although Pat developed Alzheimers during the onset of her husband’s battle with cancer, the disease could not take her beautiful disposition and love for life. She was always the sweetest, happiest person and that happiness was contagious – which we all were thankful for, including her husband. Pat always had a bright sweet spirit and beautiful smile – humble and quick to make everyone feel loved. Her light will always shine bright and she will be greatly missed! Services will be held at 10:00, Monday, October 12, 2020 at Broadway Mortuary Chapel. Burial will take place at 1:30, Monday October 12, 2020 at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry, Oklahoma. Mrs. Northrop is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Mike Brown) Coan; son, Doug (Tammy) Northrop; grandsons, Patric Northrop, Nathan Northrop, Randy (Ashley) Barnes; granddaughter, Samantha (Andrew) Reno, grand-dog Abby, seven great-grandchildren (with one on the way), her sister-in-law Fran Kemnitz and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Pat was preceded in death by her brother Donald Kemnitz. A memorial has been established with the Alzheimers Association of Wichita, KS.
