  • Remembering Melora Suzanne Temple, Edwards Rosko

  • Born June 12th, 1961
  • Died October 3rd, 2024

  • Melora was the eldest of 3 girls born to Richard and Norma "Carol"; Rosko. As a child the family moved numerous times to many states including Arizona, California, Illinois, Missouri, and multiple places in Kansas.

  • During her high school years, Melora settled in Newton, Kansas where she attended Newton High School and met her first husband Floyd E. Edwards. With one semester of high school remaining, she opted to forgo the remainder of her senior year and instead earn her GED. Upon completion of her GED, she enrolled at the Bryan Institute to work in the burgeoning field of computer technology.

  • Around this time, the young couple welcomed a son Floyd A. Edwards and another baby boy just 21 months later Preston S. Edwards. With two children to tend to, the family decided Melora would remain at home to care for them.

  • As the boys grew older and started school, the couple divorced. Melora worked in various occupations including office secretary, office manager, customer service and often as a care giver to the disabled and elderly. She was also quite the seamstress having sewn various garments ranging from priests Cossack's to wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses. She would also perform clothing repairs and tailoring for friends, family, and others in the community.

  • For many years Melora attended Second Missionary Baptist Church of Newton, KS where she for a time served as the church clerk and blessed all with her wonderful singing voice.

  • She spent the last 20 plus years of her life in Wichita, Kansas where she found love once again and married Harold Temple.

  • She had a big heart and never lacked compassion for others, having taken in many when they fell on hard times or needed a place to stay. One of her greatest attributes was caring for her own children and caring for others in need. She stressed the importance of family. Often, she mentioned the sheer number of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren she had. Acknowledging all as family whether they be connected by blood or marriage.

  • As hobbies Melora loved to read books, watch television and movies and enjoy delicious food of all cuisines. Most important to Melora was her faith in her heavenly father Jesus Christ. She will forever be known as kindhearted, giving, down to earth, one hundred percent authentically herself and absolutely one of a kind, she will be deeply missed.

  • Melora is survived by her sons Floyd A. Edwards, Preston S. Edwards and step sons Luke A. Edwards and Michael E. Rhoades. As well as her mother Norma "Carol"; Russell, sister Melissa Shroyer, brother Chris Peterson and brother Mark Hanlon as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
