Max Maurer

Max Charles Maurer was born November 17, 1929, in Wichita, Kansas, to Charles J. Maurer and Vera King Maurer and passed away September 5, 2015, in Wichita, Kansas. As a Wichita South-ender, he attended Harry Street Elementary and Hamilton Intermediate, and graduated from Wichita East High School in 1947. He also attended Wichita State University, where he studied business administration. In Wichita, Max was employed at Goldsmith’s Book and Stationery and Woolf Brothers. Living at home, he cared for his parents until their deaths; then he moved to San Francisco, California, where he worked at high-end men’s retailers, including Cable Car Clothiers. Upon retirement, Max lived in San Francisco and Rancho Mirage, California, before returning to Wichita to enjoy being with family and friends. Max was preceded in death by his parents; his aunts, Alma Maurer and Norma Maurer; his brother, Jack A. Maurer; and his sister-in-law, Norma Maurer. He is survived by one brother, Charles Maurer; three nieces, Marilyn Hugon, Diane Davenport, and Barbara Braught all of Duncan, Oklahoma; a nephew, Ben Maurer of San Diego, California; a sister-in-law, Mary Frances Michaelis of Wichita; many great-nieces and nephews; and many good friends and associates. Max was an avid photographer taking photos of the family and his many trips through the years. He loved New York City and enjoyed visiting there every year to see his beloved Yankees play. His laughing and joking manner will be missed by all. A visitation with family will be held from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Broadway Mortuary. A graveside service will at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, at Maple Grove Cemetery Wichita. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1820 E.
