Max Weldon Criser was welcomed into heaven on October 15, 2018, at the age of 95 years. He was the youngest of four children born to Edith Wright and Lester Criser on June 29, 1923, in Andover, Kansas. His family moved to Wichita when Max was young, and he attended WichitaEast High School before joining the Army in 1944 where he served in the Pacific during World War II. After the war he met his wife of 47 years, Letha Agnes McGee, while attending Oklahoma Baptist University. They resided in Wichita where Max was an agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance and later worked for U.S.D. 259 until he retired in 1988. Max loved the Lord, his family and friends. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for 80 years where he was a devoted hospital visitor. He had the wonderful gift of encouragement thanking everyone he came into contact for their service and value. He was preceded in death by his wife, Letha, parents Edith and Lester, and sisters, Elsie, Dovie, and Ava Maxine. Max is survived by sons Stephen Max (Starla) and Terry Lynn (Jane) and daughter, Jacqueline Ruth Capers, (Cliff) and six grandchildren, Angela Criser (Jason Shankland), Scott Capers(Ashley), Michael Capers, Jessica Criser (Jeremy Wade), Rebekah Egbert( John), and Jason Criser (Regine), and eight great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Broadway Mortuary. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Interim Hospice of Wichita.
