Mary Rea

Rea, Mary Jo (Jody), 78, went to the Lord on June 15, 2016. She was born April 3, 1938. Her parents were Ralph and Beulah Evans. They, as well as her brother, Robert Evans and infant grandson, Stephen Warren, preceded her in death. Jody enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, water skiing, and horseback riding. She enjoyed all sports, especially football and basketball, and was an enthusiastic Wichita State basketball fan. She was an active member of Quilt Guild clubs and Countryside Christian Church. She taught pre-school for 20 years at the Sharon Baptist Church and recorded audio tapes for the blind. Jody enjoyed her great-grandchildren, taught them to fish, play games, work puzzles, and taking them to baseball and soccer games. Jody graduated from East High School and attended Wichita University. She married her husband, Herbert, in 1957 while attending there. Jody is survived by her husband of 59 years, Herbert; 3 children, Deborah (David) Eakes, Sandra Bateman and Dwayne (Tonya) Rea; four-grandchildren, Isaac Eakes, Alex Eakes, Sarah Fouquet, and Kathleen Findley; and 3 great-grandchildren, Savannah and Noah Fouquet and Scarlette Findley. Visitation will be 2-4pm, Sunday at Broadway Mortuary with Funeral Services 10am, Monday at Countryside Christian Church, 1919 S. Rock Rd., Wichita, KS with burial to follow at Kensington Gardens.
