Martha Bethel, 85, peacefully passed away on January 21, 2021. She was born February 12, 1935 in Augusta, Kansas. She was a 1953 graduate of East High School, and went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in Art Education from Wichita State University. Martha was in education for 30 years and then decided to become a successful realtor. However, she always was working on her art projects throughout her entire life which included a wide variety of mediums including acrylic paint, sculpture, and stained glass. Inspired by one of her favorite sculptors, Henry Moore, her last works centered mostly around monochromatic abstract shapes. Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Chandler Bethel, M.D.. She is survived by her sister, Emma Lou Skiffington (George) of Colorado Springs, and her three children Mark Bethel (Cheryl) of Wichita; Ron Bethel (Angie) of Tulsa, OK; and Katie Holmes (Chris) of Atlanta, GA. She had 5 grandchildren, Chelsea, Ashton, Addie, Cooper, and Ruby; and one great granddaughter, Emery. A private family service has been held. Share condolences at www.cozine.com.
