He is proceeded in death by his parents and brother, Coy Burnett.
Loy graduated from East High School in 1964. He began working for the railroad for a time but, eventually began a lifelong career in the automotive industry working for Goodyear and then moved on to own a Skelly and Texaco gas station. He then went into business with his brother Mack opening their own auto repair shop and were in business together for 12 years.

Loy had many hobbies including restoring old cars, motocross racing, motorcycle trials, woodworking, and stained glass. He gave 110% to everything he did and considered himself a lifelong student, willing to learn and master anything he had an interest in.
Loy’s mission in life after being baptized in 2002 was to serve the Lord with his heart, soul, mind, and strength. He did so faithfully serving as an elder in his church at Emporia Church of Christ and spending countless hours sharing his faith and investing in the lives of many.
He will be remembered as a man of God, loving husband, father, grandpa, and friend.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 17 at 10:00am at Emporia Avenue Church of Christ. A graveside service will follow at 12:00pm at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
