L. Maxine Lesline, 92, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019. Private family graveside services will be held. Survivors include daughters, Mary Theodosia “Teddy” Aikins and A. Suzanne Workman; son, John C. Culver; 3 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Maxine was an avid learner, always curious, and always passionate in her beliefs. To her delight, she helped pass on those qualities to her children as well. In her earlier life while she had a young family at home, she pursued and excelled in her college classes and achieved the highest grades possible. She enjoyed playing bridge, playing her piano, and spirited discussions with friends and family. In her later years, she traveled, obtained a pilot’s license, and pursued her interest in quilting and textile arts. She early developed and practiced her interest in health and nutrition by gardening and healthy eating as well as her daily walks and exercise. She further spent a great deal of time learning and understanding investments and enjoyed the success of her efforts. She had a strong social conscience as well as a strong environmental conscience. She was an avid recycler and abhorred the use of Styrofoam and other non-recyclable materials. She was a strong supporter of women’s rights and was a staunch Democrat. As a result of all her many interest, she said more than once, “I’m really never bored.” She was an amazing, interesting woman and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. See ya later, ‘Max’!
