TEEL, LEOLA MAE (Ryan), passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Leola was born in Burden, Kansas, on August 10, 1928, to the late Charles and Alice (Pickens)
Ryan. Leola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles W. (Bill)
Teel; and brother, Joe Ryan. She is survived by her daughter, Penny Teel of
Wichita; sisters, Lorene Cunningham and Lucille Gardner, both of Derby; nephews,
Chuck (Melinda) Ryan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Roger (Lana) Cunningham of Oxford,
Kansas, Norman (Judy) Dennis of Oxford, Alabama, Mitch Gardner of Wichita, and
Mark Gardner of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; nieces, Sandy (Larry) Admire of Edmond,
Oklahoma, and Pam (Bruce) Ballinger of Derby; 9 great-nephews and 3
great-nieces; and numerous great-great nephews and nieces. Leola grew up in
Burden, with a short period in Dexter. She and her sisters worked at the
Stagecoach Inn in Manitou Springs, Colorado, during the summers of 1946-1950.
Leola returned to Kansas to pursue her dream of becoming a beautician and
attended Dena’s Academy of Beauty Culture in Wichita, graduating in April 1951,
and continued as a beautician for 56 years. Leola and Bill married on June 20,
1953. They shared many happy years of camping, boating and fishing with family
and friends. She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star #128 and a member of EHU
for more than 50 years. Thank you to the excellent caregivers at the Kansas
