Kowanda Jo Thornton, 60, went to be with her Lord and Savior after a long battle with Cancer, Friday, September 20th 2019. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side.
Kowanda was born in Eureka, KS on June 7, 1959. She had a love for the world, even at a young age. Her love and kindness displayed her heart on a daily basis. She had the best sense of humor and she always treated others with kindness and respect.
Kowanda was an amazing cook and this skill led to be her ministry in which she shared that love. She had a way of doing for others even when she had nothing to do with for herself and she always made it look easy.
More importantly was her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In the last couple of years, Kowanda took every opportunity to share the Lord with anyone who would listen, and even some that wouldn’t. She loved Jesus with all her heart.
She is survived by her grandmother, Helen Blevins; parents, James and Ruby Blevins; daughters, Amy (Richard) Aitken, Chelsea (Jess) Cortese; son, Riley (Cassy) Thornton; grandchildren, Adilyn, Cohen and Maxen; and brother, Raymond Simmons. As well as many aunts, uncles and cousins that will miss her fiercely.
Jesus tells us, “Peace I leave with you; My Peace I give you; not as the world give do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful” (John 14:27)
