Katie Coriell

Katherine (Katie) Jo Coriell, 40, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024. She was born Nov. 6, 1983, in Charleston, SC. Katie grew up in Winfield, KS; moving to Andover, KS for her senior year of high school at Wichita Collegiate School. After graduation, she attended Syracuse University for a year, transferring to the University of Maryland for 3 years and returning to Kansas to graduate with a bachelor's degree and then a master's degree in Anthropology from Wichita State University. 

Katie loved to travel and often called her mom from the airport to inform her that she was on her way to her next adventure. She also loved her cats Oliver and Nox. Although she had cancer for most of her adult life, it didn’t stop her love of travel and love of life. Katie is survived by her mother, Joni (James) Chantry; stepfather, Joseph Knab, Jr; brother, Michael Knab; sister, Stephanie (Evan Aranda) Knab, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. 

A celebration of Katie’s life will be held at Central Standard Brewing on Sept. 15 at 6 pm. In honor of Katie’s eclectic life, the family asks that you wear pink or your favorite color. Donations to honor Katie may be made to KS Humane Society, Wichita, KS.
