Joanne Edwards

Edwards, Joanne L. 83, beloved wife and mother went to be with her Lord & Saviour at home with family on December 12, 2015. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm, Thursday with Funeral Services following at 2:30pm, both at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Burial will take place in Scribner, NE. Joanne was a graduate of Immanuel School of Nursing in Omaha, NE and became an RN in 1955. Also that same year, she was united in marriage on June 26th to Manis Edwards, who was in his second year of medical school at the time. She loved the outdoors – especially flowers and birds. Joanne’s true passion was volunteer work for the Lutheran Braille Workers. Her interest began when she started reading to a young blind man while she was in high school. Her volunteer work as the co-leader and then leader of the Work Center #71 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church totaled over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert & Louise Tuchenhagen and brother-in-law, Dale Heermann. Survivors include her loving husband, Manis C. Edwards, M.D.; son, Scott (Sarah) Edwards; daughter, Ruth (Ronald Jr.) Adams; sister, Betty Heermann; granddaughters, Evie (Ryan) Lui-Kwan, Amy Edwards, and Janelle Adams; grandsons, Timothy (Leah) Adams, David (Bethany) Adams, and Alex (Alexandra) Adams; and one great-grandson, Eli Adams.
