Quick, James Alan, was born December 27, 1951, Jim died on August 13, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Lucille Quick-Jones, step-father Bob Jones, sister-in-law Sandy Quick, nephews Steve and Josh Quick. Jim is survived by his wife of 33 years Penny of Wichita; daughter Beth (Jeff) Defenbaugh of Wichita and grandsons Brett and Hunter; daughter Tricia Pardo of Denver, CO; son Brian (Sara) Quick of Shawnee, KS; daughter Bonnie (Brandon) Petz of Lawrence, KS; brother Bill (Dorothy) Quick of Gilbert, AZ; brother Gary (Johanna) Quick of Wichita; nephews and niece Steve, Kathie, Mike, Jeff and Jamie; and his precious Chihuahua Mindy. Jim retired after 20 years as a social studies teacher at Wichita South High. Jim also worked in the drive-in movie industry for nearly 50 years, and until recently as the manager of the Starlite Drive-In. Jim enjoyed his work with young people, whether they were students or employees, but more than anything he loved his family. His pride in his four children and two grandsons was evident to all who knew him. His easy manner and wonderful smile will be missed. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 10 am Saturday, August 29 at Hillside Christian Church, 8330 E Douglas, Wichita, KS.
