James H. Bath went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 19, 2017. He was a quiet man who was committed to his family. Jim was born on July 21, 1934 in St. John, Kansas to Theodore “Ted” Bath and Nellie Duley Bath. Jim was the cherished husband for 54 years of Barbara J. Wilson Bath, who preceded him in death on November 27, 2016. He was the adored father of Jenny (Ken) Imhoff of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Julie (Corey) Lorenzen of Tulsa, Oklahoma. His son, Jeremy James Bath, preceded him in death on June 15, 1970. Jim’s grandchildren, Rachel, Eli, Anna, and Noah Lorenzen, were the delight of his heart. Before marrying Barbara in 1962, Jim graduated from Ellsworth High School and served in the United States Army. After Jim and Barbara married, Jim attended Wichita State University and became a teacher at South High School in Wichita for 19 years. He was a reading specialist, but also taught history and psychology. Jim was very creative and enjoyed drawing and painting in his spare time. He was an avid reader with a wide variety of interests from cars to human behavior to science fiction. One of Jim’s hobbies was gardening and he even dabbled in floral design. The most important thing to Jim besides his family was his church. He served as a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent as well as helped with sound and set design for various church drama productions. Jim with his wife, Barbara, delighted in mentoring several young couples through their church who were just beginning their lives together. Jim is survived by his daughters and grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Although he appreciated a few accolades, Jim would say his greatest accomplishment was making sure his family never went a day without knowing they were loved.
