Inez Underwood

Inez M. (Newman) Underwood, 95, passed away Dec 5th, 2018, surrounded by her family.  Inez was born in Kansas City, Mo. She graduated High School in West Plains, MO in 1941. Inez moved to Wichita in 1942 to work for Aero Parts as a “Rosie the Riveter” on the A26 Bomber. She graduated from Friends University in 1949 with a BS in Mathematics. She married Paul Underwood in 1953. Inez worked as an accountant in the Oil Industry for many years. Together with her husband in 1972, they purchased Ramsey Dairy. She remained active in the oil industry until retiring in 2003.  Inez was a member of Zion UMC for 49 years, Epworth UMC for 20 years, and a current member of East Heights UMC. Survivors include her son, David (Connie) Underwood; daughter, Cheryl (Greg) Reeder; grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda) Underwood, Kristin (Mathew) Underwood-Hanson, Kimberly (Stasen)Whitehead, and Sarah (Austin)Jones; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Underwood; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of friends. Family Visitation, 6-8 pm, Thursday, Dec. 13, at Broadway Mortuary, 1147 S. Broadway. Funeral Service, 1:30 pm, Friday, Dec. 14, at East Heights United Methodist Church, 4407 E. Douglas.
