Gina VanVoorhis

Gina Marie VanVoorhis, 61, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Toni DeFalco; and siblings Joe DeFalco and Kris DeFalco. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Terry VanVoorhis; sons, Seth (Rebekah) VanVoorhis, and Shae VanVoorhis; and grandchildren, Emerie and Aries VanVoorhis, and cousin Lori Burress.

Gina was born on May 5, 1963 to Gene and Toni DeFalco in Wichita Ks. She was the oldest of four children. Growing up Gina enjoyed playing softball and was coached by her dad. Gina learned how to cook from her grandmother while she was living next door to her. Gina loved cooking for her family, her enchiladas, mole, and salsa were favorites of everyone who tried them.

Gina also loved music. She was able to enjoy songs from almost every genre. She sang and danced whenever she could. A favorite of hers was "These Boots Were Made for Walking" by Nancy Sinatra.

In 1982, Gina met Terry while she was a waitress and he was bartending. The two fell in love, had two children and created a life for themselves. Gina always provided good meals for her children, their friends, and anyone else who came by. She strived to create a welcoming environment for everyone, and that is something that she accomplished wherever she went. Her children, husband, grandchildren, and dog, Paco were her world and she would do anything to make sure they were taken care of.

Gina loved unconditionally, cared fiercely, and could make you feel like everything was going to be okay no matter what was going on. Her energy and presence will be missed terribly by everyone who knew her.
