Phelps, Gerald I., 88, retired H and H Parts Production Manager, passed away on June 22, 2017 after many health struggles which he had fought and overcome with the help of the Lord. He was one tough cookie. However, he had come to the point that he wanted to go home and Jesus came and escorted him to His home on the other side. Visitation will be <span class=”aBn” tabindex=”0″ data-term=”goog_1085706019″><span class=”aQJ”>4-6 p.m.</span></span>, <span class=”aBn” tabindex=”0″ data-term=”goog_1085706020″><span class=”aQJ”>Tuesday</span></span> at Broadway Mortuary with Funeral Service <span class=”aBn” tabindex=”0″ data-term=”goog_1085706021″><span class=”aQJ”>10:00 a.m.</span></span>, <span class=”aBn” tabindex=”0″ data-term=”goog_1085706022″><span class=”aQJ”>Wednesday</span></span> at Evangel Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by parents, Theodore Roosevelt Phelps and Juanita Vivian (Shaver) Phelps and brothers, William (Bill) Phelps and Morton Phelps. Survivors include his loving wife of 72 years, E. Arletta, son, Donald (Joan) Phelps; daughter, Brenda (Drew) Hanson; sister, Norma Johnson; 3 grandchildren: DeAnn (Tim) Groner; Tara (Steve) Shawn; Jerry Phelps; and 3 great-grandchildren: Amanda Groner, Grant Groner and Emma Shawn; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gerald was an honest, hardworking man. Part of his work history included Plant Production Manager for Miro-Flex Sign Company; Licensed Electrician for Loper Electric; and salesman of life insurance for both Western and Southern Life Insurance and Bankers Life & Casualty. He loved to hunt, fish and golf until his aging body limited those activities. He was an active member of Evangel Assembly of God and a devoted husband for 72 years and loved his family deeply.
