Frances Lauer

June 5, 1925 — May 29, 2016

Lauer, Frances Mae (Callis), was born June 5, 1925 in Springfield, Missouri to George Henry and Bessie Mae Callis. She grew up with three sisters and two brothers: Betty, Helen, Effie, Charles, and Harry. Frances married Clair O’Dell Lauer on March 12, 1943 in Cherokee, Kansas. They moved to Wichita shortly after that and raised three children: Terry, Randy, and Jan. Frances enjoyed working as a bookkeeper. In her spare time, she loved working puzzles, reading, cooking, and shopping. In 1978, Clair and Frances moved to Toronto, Kansas and bought a gas station and bait shop. Lauer’s Trading Post was a popular stop for travelers and fishermen in southeastern Kansas. They sold the store in 1992 and began traveling the country with their Airstream trailer. Clair went to be with his Lord on November 27, 1996. Frances followed him home on May 29, 2016. Clair and Frances are survived by their children Terry and Janet Lauer of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; Randy and Roberta Lauer of Wichita, Kansas; and Jan and Donn Higgins of Wichita, Kansas. Clair and Frances are also survived by their nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service for Frances will be held at Pathway Church in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday, June 11th at 10:30 a.m. Share condolences at www.CozineMemorial.com. Arrangements by Broadway Mortuary.
