Emma C. Rogers, a beloved mother, devoted wife, and cherished friend, passed away on April 2, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 53. Born on December 20, 1971, in Perth, Western Australia, Emma leaves behind a legacy of kindness, empathy, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Emma's career was marked by a commitment to service and a natural ability to connect with others. She began her journey serving as a case worker with the Justice Department in Perth, specializing in the victim/offender unit, where her caring nature and natural empathy helped navigate some of the most challenging situations. Following this, Emma worked at Bagatelle, where she was introduced to Lebanese cooking by her friend Naji. Her talent for engaging with customers made her a reliable and happy employee. Later, she worked as a legal assistant at the law office of Jim Lawing, where their productive collaboration thrived, allowing Emma to enjoy the intricacies of legal research and court pleadings.
An avid learner, Emma attended Kalamunda Primary and High School in Perth, Western Australia before graduating from Wichita East High School in 1989. She furthered her education at Emporia State University, where she studied art.
Emma was a beloved figure within her family, known for her warmth and generosity. She hosted Thanksgiving annually, where her exquisite pavlova dessert became the highlight of the feast. She took immense pride in her role as a mother to her son, Liam, who she regarded as her greatest achievement. Emma was devoted to nurturing his health and happiness, ensuring that he grew up surrounded by love and support.
A vibrant personality, Emma was characterized by her kindness and gentleness. She was a source of wisdom and inspiration to those around her. Her bright spirit and sweet nature illuminated the lives of everyone she knew. Her mother, Beryl, describes Emma as her sunshine.
In her leisure time, Emma embraced her love for cooking, often experimenting with new recipes. She found joy in gardening and could often be found swimming in the pool during the summer, particularly at the College Hill pool, where she was her happiest wearing her sun block and sunhat, and sipping a drink with her friends.
Emma became a proud United States citizen on November 20, 2009, a milestone she cherished deeply, marking her commitment to her new home.
Emma is survived by her husband, Michael D. Rogers; her son, Liam M. Rogers; her mother, Beryl A. Ray, and her husband, Gary ;her mother-in-law, Donna J. Rogers; her father-in-law, Donald Rogers and Kathy; her step-brother, Jonathan Ray; her cousins, Brandon, Brianna, Daniel, Nicole, Elliott Ray, Alexandra, Sam, and Ben; her step-brother, Jesse W. Ray and his wife, Angie; her aunts and uncles, Becky Eichacker, Gary and Mavis, and Andrew Bate.
She is precedeced in death by her father, John L. Porter, of Perth, Western Australia; her aunt and uncle, Lesley Baldry and David, of Warrington, England; her grandparents, Leonard and Mabel Porter, of Highlegh, England; and Leslie and Dorothy Litherland, of Warrington, England.
Emma C. Rogers will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A funeral service will be held in her honor on April 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Broadway Mortuary in Wichita, Kansas. Burial at Maple Grove Cemetery will follow the funeral service. After burial there will be a reception at Larkspur Bistro and Bar, located at 904 E. Douglas Ave in Wichita. Emma will be missed by her family and all of her many friend in the U.S.A. and across the world.
