Edwin Ray Sapp Jr.

Edwin Ray Sapp Jr., age 79, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away while surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. He was born on March 4, 1945, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Rita Mae Green Sapp and Edwin Ray Sapp.

Ed grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas, and in his formative years he engaged in a variety of activities, including participating in Boy Scouts, delivering newspapers for the local route, and working at the Lawrence Pizza Hut; all of which instilled an early entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic. He attended The University of Kansas, and then enlisted and served in the Army National Guard. Throughout his life, Ed found immense joy in his large family and his seven Pizza Hut franchises around the Wichita area. He was well-loved by his associates and employees and took great pride in serving his community. In his spare time, Ed enjoyed his home at the Lake of the Ozarks, where he spent hours boating, and at home, where he indulged in his life-long enthusiasm for sports cars.

Ed was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Ray Sapp; his mother, Rita Mae Green Sapp; and his brother, David Sapp. He is survived by his wife, Linda Pottenger Sapp; loving children Jennifer Young, Brian Sapp (Heather), Courtney Pray (Dennis), Molly Sapp, and Kelsey Sapp; sisters Janet Hunter, Helen Blake (Roger), and Lynn Sapp; grandchildren Caitlin Morin, Alyson Young, Austin Sapp (Taylor), Dylan Sapp, Bailey Sapp, Sullivan Pray and Elias Pray; and great-grandchildren Abigail Morin, Paislee Morin and Crew Sapp.
