Edward Seeley Popp, 79, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away January 28, 2024. Born October 29, 1944, to Harlan and Nadine Popp of Kingsdown, Kansas, Ed graduated from Bucklin High School before enlisting in the Navy, where he trained and served as a machinist. Ed grew up on the Popp farm, absorbing the farmer’s ethic of hard work, fixing things when they broke, and not complaining – much. That background served him well during a career as a master machinist at Boeing until his retirement in 2006. Ed had one son; Steve. Throughout his life, Ed enjoyed watching sports and westerns on TV, cheering on the WSU Shockers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas City Royals. Family was Ed’s primary focus. When his younger brother, Brent, needed a kidney transplant, Ed was a match and donated one. Before Brent passed away in 2010, Ed spent many hours “supervising” as he and his brothers worked on cars in Brent’s garage. Ed’s parents Harlan and Nadine Popp and his brother Brent passed before him. Ed is survived by his son, Steve (and Sandra Boyer), of Wichita and younger brothers Terry, of Bucklin, and Tom (and Tammy Allen) of Wichita. Additionally, Ed leaves nephews TJ (and Mandi) Popp and Jason (and Clayton) Wood, both of Wichita; great-nieces and great-nephews Mackenzi, Ethan, Izaac, Alexis, and Avery. The family will hold a private service at a later date.
