Phelps, E. Arletta “Boots”, 88, Arletta went to her heavenly home and to be reunited with her husband of over 70 years, on July 21, 2017. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Broadway Mortuary with Funeral Service at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Evangel Assembly of God. She was a private, modest and reserved lady of great faith. She spent most of her years as a homemaker, devoted to her husband and caring for her family and others. Some of her earlier working days were with Steffen Dairy Company and Fox Vliet Drug Company; however her real calling seemed to be helping others. She would have made a great missionary, and she actually was to those in her life circle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall Dewey Day and Clara Edith Austin Day; her loving husband, Gerald Phelps; and 4 sisters, Mildred Andrews, Geraldean Willis, Ruth Peacock, Doris Altaffer and 6 brothers, Lester Day, Leonard “Jude” Day, Kenneth “Dewey” Day, Robert Day, Marshall “Bert” Day, and Ronald Day. Survivors include son, Donald G. (Joan) Phelps of Wichita; Brenda (Drew) Hanson of Wichita; 3 grandchildren: DeAnn (Tim) Groner, Tara (Steve) Shawn, and Jerry Phelps; 3 great grandchildren: Amanda Groner, Grant Groner and Emma Shawn; brother, Larry Day of Springfield, Mo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
