Dorothy Warren

July 26, 1917 — May 5, 2015

Warren, Dorothy “Dottie,” was born July 26, 1917 in Great Bend, KS and passed away peacefully on May 5, 2015 at Villa Maria in Mulvane, KS. Visitation with family is on Tuesday, May 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Broadway Mortuary. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 13 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church at 3515 S. Elizabeth, followed by a reception/lunch with burial at White Chapel Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. She is preceded in death by her husband William P. “Bill” Warren, parents, Joseph and Anna Pizinger, sisters Lillian M. (Joseph) Harlan, Alice Ann (Verne) Sorrells and Grace L. (Emerson) Smith and a brother, Arthur Pizinger. She is survived by her children, Stephanie Warren, who works for the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce and Michael (Cyndi Carney) Warren with the Family Ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ in Little Rock, AR and great nieces and nephews in Derby and Viola, KS and S. Dakota. Dottie graduated from East High School before going out on tour at the end of vaudeville as a singer and dancer. She later returned to Wichita and, after WWII, married North High graduate and Bataan Death March Survivor/Ex-POW Bill Warren. They were married from 1946 until his death in 1985. Getting a late start on motherhood she stayed home until both of her children were in school, then began a career selling Avon in 1964 that continued for 47 years, winning many awards and making lifelong friends of her customers and their children. She was also an active member of Mt. Olivet Methodist Church for more than 50 years where she served as choir director. In 2011 health issues caused her to move to Villa Maria in Mulvane, KS where she enjoyed the social activities and outings, especially trips to the zoo or anything involving children, music or animals. She enjoyed her new church home and friends at the Mulvane United Methodist Church but her favorite weekly activity was sitting in the lobby of the Mulvane Animal Clinic to greet and pet all their patients and later the Derby PetCo. The “Dottie Warren Memorial Fund” has been established at the Mulvane Animal Clinic at 10231 S. Rock Road, Mulvane, KS 67110 Attn: Karen. Share online condolences at www.CozineMemorial.com.
