Darlene Snyder

Dixie Darlene Snyder, known to her loved ones as Darlene, passed peacefully on November 1, 2024, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with health challenges. She was 91 years old.

Born on July 28, 1933, in Pratt, Kansas, Darlene grew up on a farm near Iuka and attended Pratt schools, graduating from Pratt High School. She married Don Snyder on March 16, 1952, in Pratt, and together they built a life filled with love and dedication, sharing 68 years of marriage.

Darlene had a fulfilling career as a secretary, serving at Cowley County Community College and within the health industry. When Don answered a call to ministry in the United Methodist Church, Darlene embraced her role as a pastor's wife, serving alongside him at churches across north-central and northwestern Kansas. She was also an active member of United Methodist Women, deeply dedicated to her faith and her community.

After many years of service, Darlene and Don retired to Wichita, Kansas. She found joy in her family, leaving behind two sons, Robert Eugene (Robin) and Alan Lee (Beth), along with seven grandchildren-Stacie, Dylan, Zachary, Jeremiah, Colin, Nevaeh, and Leah-and four great-grandchildren: Brendan, Isabelle, Liam, and Carson. She is also survived by her brother, Merle.

Darlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don, her parents, and her brother, LaVon. She will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and steadfast faith. Her legacy lives on in the love of her family and all who were blessed to know her.

Memorial service celebrating Darlene's life will be at 11:00am, Saturday, November 30, at Chapel Hill United Methodist  Church.
