Della McIntire

Della Rose McIntire was born June 26, 1927 to Arthur and Elsie (Guhn) Richter in Alta Vista, KS. She was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on August 14, 1927. She received the rite of confirmation at St. Paul's on June 21, 1942. Della graduated from Alta Vista High School in 1947 and then married Leslie A. McIntire on November 23, 1947. Leslie and Della moved to Wichita, KS and became members of Immanuel Lutheran Church. They were members of the Couple's Club and Della helped with the Dorcas Society. Della worked as a clerk at TG&Y McCrory for 19 years and retired in 1989. Della enjoyed gardening, fishing, and camping with her husband at Council Grove Lake and Tuttle Creek in Manhattan, KS. They were members of a camp ground in Halstead, KS where they camped often with Clyde and Vera Vaughn. Della lived in the Wichita area most of her adult life, except for Leslie's military service in California at the Alameda base from 1949-1952. Della was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Ruth Richter and Lorine Asher; brother, Vernon Richter; and daughter, Linda Wood. Survivors include her daughter, Carol McIntire of Haysville; granddaughters, Heather Lowden (Russell) of Wichita and Erin Dowell (Brian) of Wichita; several other relatives and friends.
