David Depew (May 4, 1957 – May 9, 2023) was a man defined by his actions and commitments, not just words. His life was a testament to practicality, faith, dedication, and a deep-seated love for his family.
For 39 years, David lent his expertise to Cessna Aircraft, retiring as a Senior Project Engineer. More than his title, David was a respected team leader, known for his ability to bring people together and foster a spirit of camaraderie.
David's commitment to his community was embodied by his service at Friends University. He served on the Board of Trustees and Alumni Board, contributing his time and resources to the institution he held dear. His presence was a constant at university events, demonstrating his unwavering support for education and personal development.
A lifelong lover of 70's rock and roll, David's life was often accompanied by the sound of classic tunes. His enjoyment of golf and Harley rides on his beloved Deuce epitomized his appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
David's faith was a cornerstone of his life. As a Sunday School teacher and member of the praise band, he contributed to his church community in meaningful, tangible ways.
One of the most poignant moments in David's final years was attending his son Daniel’s doctoral hooding in Astronautical Engineering from the University of Southern California. Despite his battle with Parkinson's disease, David made the journey to celebrate this milestone with his son, a testament to his steadfast support throughout Daniel's academic journey.
David is survived by his wife Debbie, son Daniel, and sister Kelly Boylan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doug and Orpha Depew, and his infant twin sisters.
David passed away due to complications from Parkinson's, a disease he faced with characteristic determination. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Parkinson's Foundation or the Friends University Scholarship Fund.
