David Davis

David Allen Davis passed away at the age of 75 on Sunday, September 29, 2019.  Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Betty Davis.  Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Dr. Corinne Dille Davis, MD; his daughter Michelle, her husband Richard Diaz, and their sons Cooper and Carson; son James Davis and his son West; daughter Cecily, her husband Micaiah White, and their children, Isaac, Jireh, Aerinae, and Karissa; daughter Natalie, her husband Dr. Alexander Wendling, MD, and their son Alden David; and son Trevor Davis.  His brother Elmer “Corky” Davis also survives him.

Dave worked as an aerospace engineer for many years with Hughes Aircraft Company in California before retiring to be a stay-at-home dad to his two youngest children.  Dave had a servant heart.  He served as church chairman, videographer, and frequent volunteer for Dassel Evangelical Church in Minnesota.  He helped his son Trevor, who has autism, install a cement patio and handicap accessible benches outside the church for Trevor’s Eagle Scout project.  He also served as a board member for Lakeside nursing home in Dassel, treasurer for the Dassel-Cokato High School Speech team, Boy Scout treasurer, videographer for community and high school theatre performances, as well as timer and announcer for the high school swim team.

As a young man, Dave enjoyed sailing, camping, and going to the beach with his family. After moving to Minnesota, he developed a love of farming and a passion for John Deere tractors. He spent countless hours helping his brother-in-law Steve Dille on his farm. Dave also loved mowing the lawn, for the opportunity to be outdoors and to engineer the perfect rows. He was also a passionate dog lover and was known to sing to them and allow them to overindulge in treats.

His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He bragged about his five children to whomever would listen. He was proud of them for their accomplishments and more importantly, their kind hearts. He prayed for his children daily that they would know the important truth he knew, that is John 3:16.

Nothing was more important to Dave than his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He studied the Bible, served in his church, and set an example to his children and grandchildren of God’s love and kindness.
