Butterworth, David James, 50, AGCO Manager Product Engineering, died July 4, 2021. A come-and-go gathering of family and friends will be held to celebrate David’s life from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 10, 2021, at B&C Barbeque, 355 S. Washington, Wichita, KS 67202.
David was born on September 23, 1970, in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada to Donald Wayne Butterworth and Dorothy Doris Henczel. He and his family lived on Butterworth Road in Oyama, BC, where he and his brother spent countless hours in their basement perfecting their slap shots and grooming their hockey skills. Their home was situated on Kalamalka Lake, where David spent his summers boating, water skiing, motor cross racing, and his winters playing hockey. He was one of the first ski patrol to use a snowboard and his love of the mountains, lakes, and extreme sports kept him young at heart. His passion for fixing almost anything, led him to a career in mechanical engineering where he worked with Western Star Trucks in Kelowna, BC as a designer. He was named Okanagan Life magazine’s Best Man in 1997 and soon after, came to the United States to marry, have a family, and enhance his career. In Wichita, he participated in bible studies, enjoyed cycling, worked the winter ice skating rink as well as played pickleball at Chicken N Pickle, and was a member of the Anchors hockey team. He had a strong relationship with his Savior, Jesus Christ and loved to help others, which comforts all who knew and loved him.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Butterworth. He is survived by his son, Matthew Butterworth, Wichita, Kansas; father and stepmother, Don and Joyce Butterworth, Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada; brother, Darren Butterworth, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; and former spouse, Angie Butterworth, Wichita, Kansas.
