Burris, Daniel , 64, retired Salvation Army pastor, died August 13, 2020. A private family graveside will be held. Dan was born on April 23, 1956 in Wichita, Kansas to Glenn and Zelma Burris. He married Mary Rader on January 19, 1974. He worked at the Wichita School Board at the young age of 16 in lawn maintenance. Then moved to the Masonry department until he retired from the Board of Education in 1992. In 1993 he went into ministry as a Salvation Army Pastor along with his wife Mary. They graduated from the Salvation Army College in 1995 and were given their first church assignment in Waukegan, Illinois. They served in 8 more churches in The Salvation Army. After 23 years of ministry they retired as Majors in 2018 in their hometown of Wichita KS, due to Daniels health. Daniel had a passion for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and unique ways to get the message across. He loved playing pool, and riding his motorcycle. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandpa, and great grandpa. We will all miss him dearly. "Well done, thy good and faithful servant." He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Alexis Burris. He is survived by his wife, Mary Burris; sons, Bartholomew (Shiloh) Burris of Wichita, Jeremiah Burris of Wichita and Matthew Burris of Iowa; grandchildren, Ashlee Burris, Carson Burris, Kaitlyn Burris, Jeremiah Burris, Jr., Isaac Burris, Joshua Crandall, Destiny Crandall and Daniel Burris; and great-grandchild, Lucas. A memorial has been established with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
