Charlotte Ayer

August 9, 1934 — October 2, 2016

Ayer, Charlotte Maria (Noffke), 82, of Wichita, KS, passed into Eternal Life on October 2, 2016. Born in Wittbeck, Germany on August 9, 1934, Charlotte was the oldest of five children. Following the Russian occupation of their homeland during World War II, her family was relocated to western Germany. She later emigrated to the U.S. after marrying the love of her life, Kenneth, in 1955, and together they raised three daughters. Her interest in antiques and collectibles inspired her to open a store, A Little of Everything, which she successfully operated for over 35 years. Known for her kindness and generosity, Charlotte also had an ornery side and a wonderful sense of humor which endeared her to everyone she met. She never missed an opportunity to share her strong Christian faith and her love for the nation of Israel with customers, colleagues, friends and family. Although her vibrant personality was ravaged by dementia over the past several years, Charlotte’s legacy of faith and spirit of forgiveness will always remain with those who were blessed to know and love her. She was preceded in death by husband, Kenneth, in 1996. Survivors include daughter and full-time caregiver, Stephanie Ayer of Wichita, daughter Cassandra McKee (Phil) of Frisco, TX, and daughter Rachel Grebe (Dieter) of Rose Hill, KS; grandchildren, Tierney Drummond of Brooklyn, NY, Kara McKee of Washington, DC, Emma Grebe and Sarah Grebe of Rose Hill, KS, and Caleb Drummond, Sophia (Isaac) Romero, and Hannah (Mason) Ryel, all of Wichita; great-grandchildren, Kingston and Apollo Romero of Wichita; sisters Luise Green of Graham, TX and Christel Schwind of Frankfurt, Germany. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Broadway Mortuary in Wichita, followed by a private interment. Memorials may be made to Apple of His Eye Mission Society, P.O. Box 1649, Brentwood, TN 37024.
