Dr. Charles Reiff Brown, a retired orthopedic surgeon and master craftsman, passed away peacefully on February 9th, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, creativity, and love. A man of few words but deep convictions, Reiff lived a full and productive life, guided by his faith and love for his family.
Born to Earl and Velma Brown, Reiff was their cherished only child. He grew into a man of remarkable skill and curiosity, dedicating his career to healing others as a talented orthopedic surgeon. His steady hands not only mended bones but also crafted wood, metal, and intricate designs with the same precision and passion.
A man of many interests, Reiff was a master craftsman, a fabricator and creator, pouring his heart into fine finish carpentry. His hands shaped countless projects, from turning pieces on the lathe to building a stunning grandfather clock. His workshop was his sanctuary-a place where he breathed life into wood and metal, creating works of beauty and function.
Reiff was also a private pilot and experimental plane enthusiast, finding freedom in the sky as much as he did in his workshop. His proudest aviation achievement was building and flying a Pitts Special experimental airplane, a true testament to his engineering skill, determination, and love of adventure.
Reiff lived a rich, productive life, never content to sit idle, his curiosity and craftmanship touched the lives of many, and his absence leaves an unfillable space in the hearts of those who knew him. His family takes comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in every project he built, every life he touched, and every memory he left behind.
Above all, Reiff was a man of deep love, faith and devotion. He adored his loyal dog, Bentley, and cherished every moment with his beloved wife, Theresa. His children, Brent, Bruce, and Lori, will forever hold his memory close, remembering a father who led by example-living fully with unwavering faith in God, learning endlessly, and loving deeply.
He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, February 15 at Metro East Baptist Church.
