Mrs. Carolyn Martha Kuhlman, 82, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2024. A memorial service celebrating Carolyn’s life will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, January 14, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Meta Lorenz; husband, Werner Kuhlman; and brother, Ralph Lorenz. She is survived by sons, Michael (Joey) Kuhlman, and Wade (Becky) Kuhlman; brother, Jim (Janet) Lorenz; and grandchildren, Lily Kuhlman, Katy (Tucker) Mobbs, and Anna Kuhlman. Services by Cozine Memorial Group – Cozine Life Events Center.

Carolyn was born and raised in Perry County, Missouri. She was baptized, confirmed and ultimately married to her husband Werner at the Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, Missouri on October 27th, 1962. She lived and traveled with her husband, moving from a small town to Germany where her first son was born in 1964. Upon the completion of her husband’s military service, she became an “oilfield” wife. She and her young family lived in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, where in 1968 in Corpus Christi, her second son was born. Their travels continued to California, back to Texas, and in the early 1970’s the family settled in Slidell, Louisiana. Twelve years were spent there where Carolyn made many lifelong friends and was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

In the early 1980’s, the family moved again to Rockwall, Texas. Once she had raised the boys to young men, she began working at the Rockwall County library where library visitors came to know her warm and friendly smile. Carolyn never met a stranger and had a talent for setting people at ease. Many quickly became new friends. It wasn’t hard to recognize a heart as kind and loving as hers.

Carolyn and Werner were active in their Texas church, Lutheran World Relief, and with Thrivent where they served in many capacities with many of their friends. Carolyn was an active volunteer and worked hard, but also loved hosting many a happy gathering of friends and family. Carolyn was a loving and loyal wife and mother. Carolyn and Werner lived happily in Rockwall. During this time their three granddaughters were born, and both Carolyn and Werner retired. After Werner’s passing in 2012, Carolyn moved to Wichita, Kansas to be closer to family. She enjoyed her time with her two youngest granddaughters, volunteered with the service organization, Orphan Grain Train, and became a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. In 2020, Carolyn was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and received treatment and wonderful care from the Cancer Center of Kansas. The family would like to thank her medical team that cared for her so attentively during her illness. Carolyn dearly loved all who came into the circle of her life. She passed away in the late afternoon of January 8th, 2025, surrounded by her family. “Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life.” Revelation 2:10b
