Caroline Castro

Caroline Castro, 72, died unexpectedly in Lakewood, CO on August 18, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, August 26th, at Metro East Baptist Church. Caroline was born on Nov. 20, 1944 in Joplin, MO to Clayborne "Pete" and Marie (Garrett) Kenley. She was educated in the Wichita public schools and later attended Wichita State University. At age 18, she started working for the Southern Baptist Convention serving as the pastor's assistant at Metropolitan Baptist Church and later at Metro East until retirement. In 1985, she married Ernie Castro in Wichita, Kansas. Caroline had a passion for life driven by her love for the Lord and will be remembered most for the kindness she extended to others. She was involved in numerous bible studies, loved socializing with family and friends, enjoyed good food and Christian organ music. She is survived by her husband, Ernie Castro; mother, Marie Kenley; daughters, Joni (Stan) Miller and Suzanne (Steve) Castro-Miller, all of Wichita; son, Johnathan (Penny) Steele of Texas; brother, Bill (Mary) Kenley and niece, Louisa (Gabe) Markley, all of Wichita; grandchildren, Brandt Steele, Bryce Steele, Kelsey (Adam) Fink, Sydney (Jacob) Willis, Morgan (Sean) Sandifer, Graham (Christina) Castro-Miller, Nevada Castro-Miller, Asa Castro-Miller, Isabella Castro-Miller and Henry Castro-Miller and great-grandchildren, Peyton Steele, Jojo Fink, Jacqueline Fink, Sylvia Willis, Javier Castro-Miller and Leo Castro-Miller.
