Byron IV

October 7, 1966 — June 24, 2015

Stout, IV, Byron Gray, 48, Vice President of Human Resources at Meritrust Credit Union and Andover City Council member, went to be with his Lord Jesus on Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Funeral services 10:30 am, Monday, June 29th, at First Evangelical Free Church, 1825 N. Woodlawn, Wichita, KS. One of Byron’s most enjoyable and fulfilling pastimes was music. He gave selflessly of his time serving through worship at Metro East Baptist Church. Some of his closest friendships were built with the group of guys he worshipped with through music. Byron was a passionate Pro-Life advocate and proudly served on the Board at Choices Medical Clinic. He also was heavily involved with SCARF (Sunlight Children’s Advocacy Rights Foundation) and so proud of the support Meritrust Credit Union gave to the organization. Byron was known to take up a paintbrush to help his fellow Meritrust employees work on houses for Habitat for Humanity. He proudly helped distribute bicycles to children at KU, KSU and WSU basketball games this past winter with friends and associates of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kansas and Meritrust Credit Union. Byron also volunteered with Humana and supported the American Diabetes Association “Tour de Cure”. He was one of the proudest members of the Andover community anyone could ever meet. All of his children (with one to graduate next year) are Andover High School graduates. A 1985 Andover High School graduate himself, Byron never stopped promoting Andover. He was honored above measure to serve as an Andover City Councilman, not quite getting the chance to start serving his second term after re-election. The respect and admiration he had for the Police and Fire Departments in Andover was remarkable. He had been serving as a liaison between the city council and Fire Department these last few months, enjoying it immensely. He was active in Andover Rotary as well. On a professional level, Byron was a member of the National Society for Human Resource Management and involved with the Wichita Business Coalition on Healthcare. His involvement in the Meritrust Wellness Initiatives contributed to two different local wellness awards: Wichita’s Working Well Award in 2011, Wichita Business Journal’s Healthiest Employer Award in 2013 and 2014. And Wichita Business Journal’s top HR Professionals Awards in 2013. A tireless server of others, Byron’s presence in the community will be deeply missed. The Stout Family would like to thank the Andover Police and Fire Departments; Chris Rea, Esther, Mindy, Melanie and the entire staff of Regent Park that welcomed our entire family with such compassion and care. Also, we thank Harry Hynes Hospice and Kansas Medical Center of Andover. The Stout Family also would like to especially thank Tony and Sue Stark, Jason and Erin Jolly, Carey and Laure Kenyon, and Pastor Mark and Starrla Penick for their tireless and selfless support. We love you all. Byron is survived by his wife, Carrie M. Stout; daughters, Mallory (Kylan) Cook, Ellen (Ishmael) Morris and Lindsey Stout; sons, Byron G. Stout, V and Jake Stout; parents, Byron G.
