Gordon, Bruce Barnett
84, passed away September 14, 2015. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 pm, Thursday, and Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, both at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Bruce was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 2, 1930 to Wayne and Susan Gordon. He graduated from East High School and the University of Missouri. He served in the U.S. Army as a surgical scrub nurse during the Korean War. In 1955, he married Nancy Peet. He was a small business owner, operating several shoe store locations. Originally named “Youthful Shoes”, the company was later renamed “Gordon Shoes”. Retailing was an ideal calling for Bruce as he was the happiest in the company of others. Bruce loved the game of golf, his bird dogs, hunting and fishing, but more than anything – he loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; four children, Reggie (Gary) Althoff, Clay (Yana) Gordon, Christopher (Dana) Gordon and Devin Gordon; ten grandchildren, Christopher (Jamie) Althoff, Michael Althoff, Katie (Terence) Morris, Grant Gordon, Emily Gordon, Bryan (Kate) Gordon, Paige (Ben) Dougherty, Callie (Matthew) Athey, Tyler Gordon and Maggie (Ben) Rosas; and six great-grandchildren. Memorials have been established with Serenity Hospice and Wichita Children’s Home. Share condolences at www.CozineMemorial.com. Services by Broadway Mortuary.
