Brenda Van Amburg Medcalf was born in Washington, Kansas to Ruby Van Amburg and Donald Van Amburg. Brenda was the third of four siblings, Janet Hampe, Douglas Van Amburg, and Tammy Puetz. Brenda is survived by her dear friend, Larry Medcalf, her sons, Garrett Medcalf and Colton Medcalf, and grandson, Atlas Medcalf. Brenda was an adoring wife, mother,and grandmother. Everyone in Brenda’s life was blessed to call her family or a friend. Brenda was fiercely loyal and exceptionally empathetic. She would do anything for those she loved and cared for. Brenda was an avid volunteer and change agent in building community. Brenda served as Parade Marshall for the Wichita Riverfest Festival in her hometown of WichitaFalls, Kansas for many years. Brenda also served on the Dripping Springs Founders Day Commission for nearly 20 yearsand as Chair At-Large for the past 10 years. Under her leadership, Founders Day Festival has grown to serve over100,000 people. Her mark on the community of Dripping Springs, TX should not only be recognized, but celebrated. For this reason, the Founders Day Parade will be renamed in her memory. Brenda’s legacy of love, humility, and service is ashining example to all.
