Bettie June Barrett

Bettie June Barrett, 77, passed away on February 5, 2025, in Wichita, KS surrounded by her family. Bettie was born to Nettie and Claude Brown on June 22, 1947, in Hockerville, OK. She spent her childhood in Picher, Oklahoma. She met Bill on a blind date and found her soulmate and spouse of 60 years. She was a homemaker and raised their two boys. Bettie and Bill felt called to the mission field when the boys were in middle school and high school. Their family traveled to Papua New Guinea with the New Tribes Mission for eight years. After retiring from the mission field, they moved to Wichita, Kansas, to be with their children and grandchildren. Bettie was an active member of Sharon Baptist Church helping in the Women’s group, VBS, and AWANA. Preceded in death: Claude Brown (father) and Nettie Carr (mother); and brother and sisters: Kay Montgomery, Ami Bateman, Vern Brown, Perry Brown, Vera Stewart, Claude Brown, Albert Lee Brown, and Delna Simpson. Bettie is survived by her husband Bill; her sons Michael (Julie) and Mark (Tammy); grandchildren Olivia, Brett, Andrew, and Aaron; sibling Ernest Brown (Debbie); brother-in-law Leroy Barrett; sister-in-laws Marge Morris and Janice Reynolds. Bettie also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life will be held at Sharon Baptist Church on Monday, February 10, at 2:00 PM, with a graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery, Cherokee County, on February 11 at 2:00 PM.
